Hockey alumni prepare to play current coaches

Presque Isle High School alumni will take on the coaches of youth hockey during a game Saturday, Dec. 27 beginning at 6 p.m. at the forum in Presque Isle. Former hockey stand outs like Grey Cyr, Brandon Daigle and Ethan Hill will take on Presque Isle High School hockey coach Dr. Carl Flynn and other youth hockey coaches such as Doug and Daren Carlisle, Bob Davis, Scott Madore and Rob Albert.     After the first period, current members of the youth hockey’s Initiation Program will take to the ice for a scrimmage. For many of these 4-7 year olds, it is their first year on the ice and will be their first scrimmage in front of a crowd.
“This will be entertainment for the whole family,” explained Rob Albert, former president of youth hockey and organizer of the event. “This should be a good, competitive game. And it will be fun for the kids to see their coaches in action. It will also be great to support our youngest players from the Initiation Program.”
“This will be an interesting evening,” said PIHS Coach Flynn. “I skated with those high chool boys at every practice, and now I’ll be pitted against them in a game. I think we’ll give them a run for their money.”
Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from a youth hockey board member or at the door. The evening will be a fundraiser for the Presque Isle Youth Hockey organization, which has over 80 children of all ages participating on six  levels of competition. The children come from towns around the central Aroostook area. More information about the organization can be found at www.ouraaha.com.
