Woodland students in grades three and four recently traveled to Stockholm where they were treated to a tour of the local museum, hosted by members of the Stockholm Historical Society and even experienced some time inside the old B and A Railroad caboose, that is parked next to the American Legion Post Home.

In front from left are: Sydney Dube, Simone Michaud, Camara Johnson,, Megan Thornton and Meghan Cole. In back are: Kristen Sarmiento, Carson Doody, Randol Jones, Garrison Doody, Joseph Glidewell, Dianna Poulin and Crysta Whitmore.

The students had been reading the Boxcar Children, a series of books about a family of orphaned children who find the only way to stay with one another and to survive is to live in a boxcar. The Woodland students were on the last chapter of the book and their teachers thought what better way to complete the book by reading the final chapter inside an actual, cold empty rail car.
Prior to visiting the boxcar, the students toured the Stockholm museum, where they learned about early farm machinery, early clothing, household items, toys and of particular interest was the military room. Here the students explored and viewed a wide variety of military uniforms and paraphernalia.
Following the museum visit and time reading in the boxcar, the students visited KnockOut, a replica of a hunting cabin that is near the boxcar and finished their outing by having their lunch at the Stockholm School.

Students enjoying the field trip are: Andre Bray, Moriah Connolly, MaKenzie Conroy, Cameron Doody, Travis Gilliam and Darryl Glidewell. Also Adia Greer, Alex Johndro, Candace Lane, Brandon Manter, Callee McBreairty and Carter Moir; Lane Moir, Luke Rider and Caleb Trombley. With the students are Nancy Anderson, special education teacher and Debbie Sutherland, third-grade teacher.
