John F. McDermott died peacefully on October 16, 2008.
He is survived by Georgette “Gerre”, his beloved wife of 61 years, as well as his children Karen and Christopher, and he will be sorely missed by his cherised grandchildren: Corinna, P.J., Remy, and Stacey.
John served in the Army during World War II. After the wars, he graduated from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Mass. He worked for many years in the paper industry in Maine and was a member of the Navy League of The United States. After his pride in his family, his military service, and his successful business career, John was most proud of his writing. He authored two novels, a children’s book, and a collection of poetry. Friends and family alike will miss his magical story telling. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Craig Funeral Home, St. Augustine, FL is in charge of arrangements.
