Caribou MS boys defeat Shires, split with PI teams
The Caribou Middle School boys soccer team took two of three contests last week, besting Houlton, 5-2, before splitting games with Presque Isle’s two squads. Lucien Caverhill broke a scoreless tie at intermission with a long shot that found the back of the net, before teammates Mikey Selander, Zac Gorence, Dean Walker and Nick Matlock added tallies later in the half of Caribou’s win over the Shiretowners Sept. 8. Nolan McDuffie had a pair of assists for the winners.
In a 1-0 victory over Presque Isle White Thursday, Walker scored the game’s only goal and Viking defenders Sean Barbosa, Caverhill, Selander and McDuffie did the job in front of goalkeeper David Pelkey.
The following day, Caribou fell to Presque Isle Blue on a penalty kick with three minutes to play in regulation.
Cody Herbert, Kameron Manter, Matt Frost, Eric Tilmont, Austin Caverhill and Breen Blackstone contributed strong play during the week for coach Steve Perreault’s Caribou squad.
