    The Caribou varsity golf team edged John Bapst at home Monday by three strokes to win its first match of the season.

   The Vikings had five golfers break 50 for nine holes, with Caleb Chapman posting the team’s low round with a 42. Ellis Pelletier carded a 44, Pat Thibodeau a 45 and Ben Wyman and Lance LaMothe 49s for Caribou.
    Matt Duplisea of John Bapst was the medalist with a 40.
    At Presque Isle Country Club Thursday, the host Wildcats defeated Caribou, 164-193. Jon Humphrey and Travis Dyer each had rounds of 40 to lead  PI,  while Chapman and Pelletier both shot 46 to pace the Vikes.
    Last Wednesday at Caribou, the Vikes opened with a 160-173 loss to Houlton, a perennial Class C power. Chapman shared medalist honors with Houlton’s Dylan Flewelling. Both shot a 37 on the afternoon. Nate Swan had a 44 and Pelletier and Taylor Jepson had 46s for Caribou.
