WASHBURN – Thirty-six boys and girls participated in the Beaver Basketball Camp held at Washburn District Elementary School June 17-19. The camp was directed by Larry Worcester with assistance from Kim Worcester, Marcie Barbarula, Dayna Sue Michaud, Mary Jo Sheehan, Kelsee McLaughlin, Erica McDougall and Amy Reed.
The camp was designed to improve basketball skills by emphasizing the fundamentals of the game.
The daily schedule consisted of drill stations, shooting and individual games and five-on-five team scrimmages.
The following awards were presented at the conclusion of the basketball clinic:
Girls’ College Division: free throw champ Emmy Churchill, one-on-one champ Caitlyn Coulombe, most desire award Sarah Bragg, best defense award Anna Soderberg, most improved award Brittany Hernandez and most valuable player Coulombe.
Boys’ College Division: free throw champ Derek Baker, one-on-one champ Jarrett Olson, most desire award McCall Turner, best defense award Noah Caron, most improved award Kenny Irving and most valuable player J. Olson.
Girls’ WNBA Division: free throw champ Carmen Bragg, one-on-one champ C. Bragg, most desire award Nicole Olson, best defense award Clara Collins, most improved award Maegan Fitzpatrick and most valuable players C. Bragg and Mackenzie Worcester.
Boys’ NBA Division: free throw champ Mitchell Worcester, one-on-one champ Mitchell Worcester, most desire award Ben Bragg, best defense award Nick Bragg, most improved award Kyle McLaughlin and most valuable players Jordan McLaughlin and Mitchell Worcester.
