VFW 5, S.W. Collins 4
Sean Sadler struck out 14 batters to help VFW keep the lead over S.W. Collins on Monday. Sadler hit three singles in the victory, and Nolan Powers singled twice. Jake Perreault added a single and a triple for VFW. Cory Rideout made a key line drive catch at first base on defense.
Matt Curry struck out 13 and hit two singles for S.W. Collins. Jeremy Miller added a single.
Knights of Columbus 9, Woodland Tigers 7
K of C held off the Tigers’ rally in the bottom of the sixth to keep their lead for the win last Wednesday. Connor Plourde doubled, tripled and drew seven walks for K of C. David Kennedy hit two singles and Taylor Thibodeau doubled in the victory. Thibodeau and Tyler Charette combined pitching duties for 14 strikeouts with eight hits.
Matt Manter hit three singles, and Zach Connelly belted two doubles for the Tigers. Manter, Jessica Kovach and Connelly combined for 14 strikeouts with eight hits.
S.W. Collins 32, Savings Bank of Maine 5
S.W. Collins’ Curry doubled and tripled to lead his team to victory over Savings Bank. Dayne Savage doubled twice, Rebecca McDougal doubled and Nate Wyman also doubled for S.W. Collins. The batting lineup totaled 18 hits, including Donovan Savage with four, Ricky Perry with two and Gabe Massey and Miller with one hit each.
Dayne Savage threw for the pitching win with seven strikeouts. Donovan Savage had three strikeouts and Wyman had one pitching in relief.
Savings Bank pitchers Nick Matlock, Caleb Willette, Brayden Burby and Evan Nadeau combined for nine strikeouts. Jared Doody added a hit for Savings Bank.
Shop n’ Save 14, VFW 7
A six-run fifth inning highlighted the Shop n’ Save victory over VFW on July 1. SNS runners scoring were Alex Losieniecki, Kameron Manter, Jared Keaton, Dustin Demerchant, Axios Gerakaris and Ben Ezzy.
SNS got an early star in the bottom of the first inning when Manter doubled to drive in two runners, and tagged home when Keaton doubled. VFW got onto the scoreboard in the top of the second after a series of walks and a single by Perrault for two runs. However, SNS matched VFW in the bottom of the second when Michael Marquis, Losieniecki, Adam Collins and Manter all singled to help in two runs.
In the third inning, Sean Sadler reached home for VFW, and Losieniecki tripled for two more runs on the SNS side. In the top of the fourth, Sadler singled and Perrault tripled for two runs, and kept SNS scoreless in the bottom of the inning.
Despite VFW’s final two-run effort in the top of the sixth, SNS had the game in the pivotal fifth inning.
VFW 11, Police 10
VFW pulled off a one-run victory over the Police after scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on July 3. Dylan Berkoski went four-for-four at bat with two singles and two doubles, and Perrault slammed two singles and one double.
Tyler Dombroski led the Police with three singles while Reece McDougal hit a triple, double and one single. Austin Griffith singled and doubled for the Police.
Perrault and Griffith tied in their pitching duties with eight strikeouts each.
