Poppy presentation in honor of Memorial Day

    Bernice Pelletier, American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 15, Poppy Chairwoman, presented Maine Veterans’ Home resident Daniel McLaughlin with a poppy recently as part of the auxiliary’s annual poppy presentation to the residents. McLaughlin, whose hometown is Fort Fairfield, is a Korean War Army veteran and is also the veteran resident who holds the longest tenure at the Maine Veterans’ Home.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Image    Shelley O’Rourke, left, of the Caribou American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 15, presents Maine Veterans’ Home Activity Director, Rita Worley with a bouquet of poppies to be distributed to each of the residents and staff at the veterans’ home. The auxiliary unit presents the poppies each year just prior to Memorial Day for the residents to wear. Some of the veterans will ride in the Caribou Memorial Day Parade.O’Rourke reminds the community that all funds raised from poppy donations are designated directly to a variety of veterans programs. Legion members will be offering poppies at local businesses.
