Caribou — On Sunday, February 10, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at 55 Bennett Drive in Caribou, Democrats in Caribou will caucus to select delegates to the Democratic State Convention, elect Municipal Officers and County Committee members and discuss important issues. “America is at a crossroads. After eight years of a failed Republican Administration, we have the opportunity to chart a new direction for our country. On Feb 10, Democrats from across the State of Maine will caucus to choose who they want to be the Democratic Party’s nominee for president. Caucuses are a time to make you voice heard. Together, we will work from the grassroots to build a strong party framework. I strongly encourage all Democrats to attend their town caucus and make their voices heard,” said John Knutson, Chairman of the Maine Democratic Party.
The caucuses are the front lines of grassroots politics. Democratic candidates, elected officials, and representatives from Democratic campaigns will attend. Attendees are asked to bring their viewpoints, ideas and questions for discussion.
“If we are going to move Maine forward, we need Democrats in every town to gather and talk about where the Democratic Party is headed in this new century. It is essential that Democrats in Caribou be part of this process,” said Knutson.
People not currently registered in a political party who would like to enroll as a Democrat may do so immediately at the town office or at the caucus. Those registered in a different political Party must switch their enrollment to Democrat before January 26, 2008, in order to be eligible to vote in the February 10 caucus.
