CARIBOU – Flexibility and strength of the Viking wrestlers combined to give Caribou High School a 2-1 record as they hosted Winslow, Gardiner and Hermon on Saturday. Independent wrestlers from Lawrence and Hall-Dale also attended the meet. Caribou defeated both Gardiner and Hermon with the boisterous encouragement of the hometown crowd.

Viking Corey Lajoie pinned his Gardiner opponent, Jared Michaud, and Hermon opponent, Ben Cyr. The fans roared as Lajoie forced Lawrence wrestler Richard Gadway to buckle to the mats on his back.
Danielle MacDonald out-maneuvered her Lawrence opponent, as well. Justin Tremblay had MacDonald in a firm lock, but the Viking continued like a contortionist to extend her arm out and keep her shoulders off the mat. Eventually making it to a standing position, MacDonald pinned Tremblay at 3:10.
Wrestler Brian Vrieze also had the victory over his independent opponent from Lawrence.
The blue wrestler had a flexibility advantage that gave him the early lock. However, Vrieze reversed the hold and his strength gave him the advantage to defeat Chris Folsom at 2:48.
Caribou’s Brandon Adams pinned his Gardiner opponent, Nikole Robbins, in the 135-pound class at 1:23. In the 285-pound class, Viking Andrew Adams pinned Brandon Gardner of Gardiner at 1:56. In the 215-pound division, Ryan Schunemann pinned James McGowan of Hermon at :37.
