Thursday, Jan. 10
9:10 a.m. Pioneer Avenue – Animal – Male caller reported a black lab at his residence, that had been running hard.
Action – Animal control officer was paged and a male was also contacted, who was thought to possibly be the owner. The male thought it was probably his dog, and said he would have his wife check. Friday, Jan. 11
8 a.m. Park Street – Motor Vehicle Complaint – Caller reported a vehicle stopped on the corner of Main and Park streets, causing a traffic problem.
Action – An officer checked and found that a local towing service was already moving the vehicle.
12:30 p.m. Main Street – Domestic – Female caller reported having a physical altercation with the male subject who shares her apartment and advised that she had left with her children, but now needed the male subject removed from the apartment so she could collect her things.
Action – An officer advised she needed to get a protection order from the court in order to get him temporarily removed. An officer agreed to accompany the female caller in picking up her things.
8 p.m. Bog Road – Motor Vehicle Complaint – Male caller from the Maine DOT advised a car was parked on the Bog Road, which had been there all day.
Action – An officer spoke with the vehicle’s owner and advised him that he needed to move the vehicle.
Saturday, Jan. 12
9 a.m. Access Highway – Motor Vehicle Complaint – Caller reported a van off the road on Route 89.
Action – An officer checked the area and found no one around. The windshield was broken. The officer called a local towing service to remove the vehicle.
4:41 p.m. Woodland Road – Assist Public – Female caller reported snowmobiles and a pick-up truck on her property. She was not sure if it was her son, but she was frightened. While an officer was enroute the female caller called back to advise officers to disregard the call as it was her family.
7:45 p.m. Vickers Drive – Suspicious Vehicle – Female caller reported a white Jeep that kept driving by looking in the windows.
Action – An officer checked the area, but did not locate the Jeep.
Sunday, Jan. 13
1:40 a.m. High Street – Intoxicated Pedestrian – Caller advised that there was an intoxicated pedestrian on High Street, and said they were concerned for the person’s safety and asked an officer to check on them.
Action – An officer located the pedestrian, and gave him a ride to his parents’ house.
8:15 a.m. Bennett Drive – Animal – Caller reported a stray golden retriever puppy about 4 to 6 months old.
Action – An officer took the puppy to the animal shelter.
Monday, Jan. 14
8:49 a.m. Madawaska Road – 9-1-1 Hang-Up – A 9-1-1 hang-up was received from a Madawaska Road residence.
Action – An officer tried calling back, but found the line was busy, and received no answer upon calling again. An officer checked and spoke to a male subject, who had been trying to reach the Van Buren Police Department, and thought dialing 9-1-1 would be a good way to reach them. The male subject was advised to use the number in the telephone book and to only use 9-1-1 for emergencies.
9:50 a.m. Sweden Street – Animal – Male caller from a local high school reported a stray cat outside the classroom, and he wasn’t sure what to do with it. Students wanted him to bring it inside, but he asked for the animal control officer to be notified.
Action – The animal control officer was notified.
10:45 a.m. Lyndon Street – Theft – Female caller parked her car in front of a local business with the engine running. When she returned the vehicle was missing.
Action – Area units notified and a file sent statewide. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Presque Isle.
Tuesday, Jan. 15
9:30 p.m. Grove Street – Police Information – Male came into the station to report that a male subject had threatened to kill him, and he wanted the police notified in case the male subject carried out his threat. The male also asked to stay in a jail cell for the night, and said that he had a key to the jail cell.
Action – An officer advised that if he came in with a key, he could have a cell to stay in.
Wednesday, Jan. 16
9:49 a.m. Old Washburn Road – Animal – A mixed breed dog was found on the Old Washburn Road with no houses around.
Action – The dog was brought into the station and placed in the dog house.
10:55 a.m. Grove Street – Criminal Mischief – Caller reported that the previous day someone had tried to break into a Grove Street apartment doing damage to the door casing, but not gaining entry.
Action – The caller just wanted to report the incident for insurance purposes, and said they would call back with an estimate of damages.
11:45 a.m. Grove Street – Theft – Caller reported that a tenant moved out and when he did he took the drawers with him.
Action – An officer spoke with the former tenant, who admitted to taking the drawers and refused to return them. The officer advised that he could return them or go to court. The former tenant returned the drawers.
4:57 p.m. Lyndon Street – Criminal Trespassing – Male caller from a local business reported that a male subject had been walking through the store and had picked up a doughnut and eaten it while browsing. The male subject did not pay for it upon leaving.
Action – The male subject was advised not to return to the store again or he would be charged. The male subject returned to pay for the doughnut and received a written warning for criminal trespassing.
10:03 p.m. Bennett Drive – Snowsled Complaint – Male caller reported being at a local eatery and said there was a male subject who was extremely intoxicated about to leave on a snowmobile.
Action – The male subject ended up taking a taxi home.
11:07 Water Street – Harassment – Male caller reported his brother is living in an apartment building in Connor and the landlord recently called about his brother not paying rent. The male caller wanted the landlord advised not to call him or his mother again.
Action – An officer spoke with the landlord, who said his tenant hadn’t paid any rent and he was trying to get a family member to help out. The officer advised him to speak with his tenant and to seek a legal order if that doesn’t work.
