SAD 45 applauds neighbor district

To the editor:
Last spring SAD 45 in Washburn, Perham, and Wade faced very difficult financial problems. We struggled with our budget and with the need to overhaul our financial administration.     From the beginning our neighbors in Presque Isle at SAD 1, under the leadership of Superintendent Gehrig Johnson, and with the willing cooperation of their outstanding accounting staff, provided us with invaluable assistance without which we could not have achieved our objectives. I want to thank Dr. Johnson, Joy Duncan, Carolyn Watson and Bonnie Greaves for their help.
I also want to express a special thank you to Mr. Charlie Anderson. I have known Mr. Anderson by reputation for many years as one of the premier experts on school finance in the state of Maine. He brought a calm demeanor, a mature judgment, and an astounding work ethic to bear on our problems.
Everyone wants what is best for the students. On occasion that requires a professional to step forward in a time of need to make an extra effort to keep a school system on track. For SAD 45, in the spring of 2007, that professional was Mr. Charlie Anderson.
