ImageMapleton – Richard L. Currier, 67, died early Wednesday morning November 5, 2008, at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou. He was born in Presque Isle on June 1, 1941, the son of Linwood H. and Cora M. (Stoddard) Currier.
    He graduated from Mapleton High School in 1959, and served in the U.S. Army 1963-1965. Richard worked as a custodian  and bus driver for SAD#1 for 40 years. He was a former member of the Washburn Lodge #193 AF&AM.
    He is survived by a brother, Charles H. Currier II and his wife Anita of Mapleton; an aunt, Alberta McNeal of Eagle Lake; a nephew, Charles H. Currier III of Mapleton; four nieces, Anndrea Green and Mary Dahlgren, both of Alabama, Laurie Kelly of Easton, and Christa Galipeau of Presque Isle; and several great-nieces and nephews.
    A private graveside service was held Monday, November 10, 2008, with Rev. Kenneth Phelps officiating. Donations may be made in his memory to the Cornerstone Christian Academy, P.O. Box 632, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou for their care and concern for Richard and his family.
