Barbershoppers made dinner theater extra special

To the editor:
The Presque Isle Players presented a most wonderful musical review of WWII and 1940s music entitled “A Time To Remember.” This dinner theater was held at Slopes Northern Maine Restaurant & Brewing Company on October 3, 4, 10 and 11.     It was truly a thrill to be part of this exceptional group of performers. We had wonderful audiences, and one of the best sets to work from in many years.
I am writing this for one special group of people that were never really identified by name in the papers or in the program. I am referring to “The Maine Event Barbershop Singers” who were recruited fairly late in the rehearsal schedule to sing two songs and then help to close each show by singing with the ensemble for the last two songs. The Maine Event included Dan Olson from New Sweden as Tenor, Richard Mattila of Caribou as Lead, Robert Cormier of Presque Isle as Bass, and Richard Ruggles of New Sweden as Baritone.
These gentlemen provided a touch of class to this already spectacular show, and I wanted the public to know who they are. The Presque Isle Players owes the Maine Event a special debt of gratitude for their “last minute” participation. Thanks fellows!
