Knowing or knowledge of a person are two different concepts. I know and work with Mike and I have grown to admire his work ethic and his ideas on current issues. His ideas stem from a common sense approach to the many issues in today’s world and most importantly, the issues that directly impact our community.
I also like his method of thinking things through before he acts and that is a quality I feel many of our elected officials lack.
As I have had the chance to work with Mike, I have noticed that he has an uncanny ability to solve problems. In the real estate business, there are countless ways in which a transaction can go bad, and I have watched Mike in action when things are looking their worst. He has always been able to mediate and solve the problem and see the transaction to a positive end. Mike’s ability as a problem-solver served him well when he was a teacher in the MSAD 1 school district and I feel it is a skill necessary for an individual to possess if they aspire for public office.
Mike has had many experiences in his life and has done many things. He has been a firefighter, a business manager, an auto mechanic, a combat medic in the U.S. Army, a teacher, a real estate agent, and has worked at the local manufacturing plants in the area. All of those experiences give Mike a clear view of how life is in northern Maine making him able to connect with everyone in our community.
I was asked by Mike if I would be the treasurer for his campaign. Now it is not common that a candidate from one party asks a member of the opposing party to be his treasurer. But knowing Mike for the person that he is, I didn’t hesitate in accepting his offer. I am a life-long Republican and I have voted Republican all my life, but this year I know of one Democrat that will get my vote and he is getting my vote because of the person he is and the judgment and abilities he possesses. I am one of many Republicans who are supporting Mike in his race for state representative. This speaks well for Mike’s cross over appeal and how he connects with people of all parties. He is the type of person who will put the citizens of Presque Isle first and party last when he gets to Augusta.
Looking forward, I believe Mike would be an excellent addition to the county representation in Augusta and I urge voters from all parties to support Mike on November 4th as our next state representative for District 5.
