PRESQUE ISLE – Northern Maine Community College is hosting a DOT Safety Compliance Seminar, designed for trucking companies and representatives from the industry. The seminar leader will be Bob Cleaves of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, who will discuss many of the important aspects of a compliance review and how to be prepared for a “visit” from FMCSA. Other topics will include a review of the changes and updates in the regulations, especially homeland security efforts, hours of service regulations, entry-level driver training requirements and alcohol/drug testing requirements.
“The seminar is open to everyone in the industry, and we are expecting a large group to attend,” said Leah Buck, assistant dean of continuing education. “This is valuable information to people in the industry who have questions about current laws and how recent changes will impact their business. The afternoon is planned as an open forum where many different compliance issues are addressed.”
The seminar will be held in the Edmunds Conference Center at the college on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $30, with refreshments and lunch provided. Pre-registration is required. Call 768-2768 or e-mail lbuck@nmcc.edu to reserve a seat.
