Natalie Hill of the Houlton High School track and field squad is the only athlete on the team who has earned two automatic bids to state competition. She will compete in the 800 meter and 400 meter. There are another six athletes — three girls and three boys — who qualified for the States in 11 events (five girls and six boys), but they are provisional only and do not have a guaranteed spot in the final seeding, said Houlton coach Chris Rines.
Houlton has also qualified seven for the Penobscot Valley Conference (PVC) championships in 16 events. There are four girls and three boys competing in nine girls’ and seven boys’ events.
