Traffic stop leads to drug bust

  HOULTON, Maine — A routine traffic stop Wednesday night resulted in an Oakfield man being charged with trafficking methamphetamine.

Joshua Branscombe, 25, was charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of schedule Z drugs, illegal possession of hypodermic apparatuses and sale and use of drug paraphernalia after Maine State Police Trooper Eric Sucy pulled him over on the Currier Road shortly after 9 p.m., according to a release by Trooper Chuck Michaud.
The reason for the traffic stop was not listed in the release.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of various drugs, paraphernalia and evidence of drug sales. Branscombe was a passenger in the vehicle. The name of the driver was not revealed.
Branscombe was taken to the Aroostook County Jail, where he remained as of early Thursday morning. He is slated to appear in Houlton District Court on July 21.
