Postseason begins for the Houlton Basketball Association Women’s League. The double-elimination tournament seedings are based on regular season records.
The first playoff doubleheader is Sunday, March 22 with No. 2 Alley Oops (4-2) taking on No. 3 Hoops, We Did It Again (3-3) at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., the No. 1 The Force (5-1) will face No. 4 Soup A Stars (0-6).
The losers of game one and two will playoff on Sunday, March 29 at 10 a.m., with the winners of those matches facing each other at 11 a.m. in game three of the playoffs. On April 1, the winner of game three and loser of game four will square off at 6:30 p.m.
The championship game will be held Saturday, April 4 at 6 p.m. with the winner of game four and winner of game five playing. A consolation game is set for Sunday, April 12.
The entire playoff bracket will allow team captains and players to plan accordingly. Players must have played in the regular season to qualify for playoffs; players are only allowed to play on one team through entire playoffs. Teams must start each contest with a minimum of five active players, if not, the game will be considered a forfeit and/or loss. If ineligible players are entered into game, disciplinary actions will be enforced, without protest.
The cost will be $30 per team, regardless of amount of players. The game fee must be paid in full prior to start of each playoff game. If not, the team in debt will forfeit the game and will be considered a loss.
Matching uniform shirts with jersey numbers are highly recommended.
Games will be played with two 20-minute halves. Clock will stop on all dead ball whistles with two minutes remaining in first half. The clock will stop on all foul shots in the second half only. The last eight minutes of play in regulation play, the clock will stop on all dead balls/whistles. If overtime is needed, it will be four minutes long and managed as part of the last minutes of regulation play.
