Brown family holds reunion

The Brown family held a reunion Aug. 9 at Baptist Park Camp Ground in Mapleton, with 80 extended family members spanning six generations – all descendants of Harvey Everette Brown and Adeline Blanch Crouse Brown.     Harvey and Adeline were the parents of two sons and twelve daughters. Marge Farley is the last surviving daughter and currently resides with her son, Kevin Kidney, in Crouseville.
Grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and their families, came from California, Florida, West Virginia and all the New England states to take part in the event. A wonderful display of food was enjoyed by all.
Pastor James Ackerson, of the Bethany Baptist Church in Presque Isle and president of Baptist Park, was on hand helping in the kitchen and taking anyone interest on the zip line. Kelly Ayotte, of Presque Isle, served as lifeguard. Everyone got to enjoy the indoor pool, basketball, miniature golf, air hockey, tennis, badminton and the zip line.
Grampy Brown was a master carpenter and craftsman; and Grammy was a seamstress, pianist and a most wonderful cook. Their sons turned out to be carpenters and all the daughters wonderful cooks.
A DVD of the reunion will hopefully be available in the near future, made by David Coffin of South Portland.
The reunion was spearheaded by granddaughter Anna Walsh, of Presque Isle, and her grandchildren assisted in decorating in a patriotic theme.
Baptist Park was the perfect place to hold such a fun-filled family event.
