The Presque Isle varsity golf team has started its season with a 2-0 mark following wins over Caribou and Houlton last week.
At Presque Isle Country Club Thursday, the Wildcats defeated Caribou, 164-193. Jon Humphrey and Travis Dyer each had rounds of 40 to lead PI, with Evan Waddell, Keenan Eaton and Jason Martin all coming in with 42s on the afternoon. Last Tuesday at Fort Kent, the Wildcats opened with a 182-207 victory over the Warriors. Waddell’s 42 led PI, with Cody Merrill and Martin carding rounds of 44 and 45, respectively. The Central Aroostook Panthers were part of a three-team match at Va Jo Wa in Island Falls Friday. The Panthers shot a 225 on the day to finish four strokes behind Katahdin.
Leading CA was Kasey Brewer, who shot a 43. Kaine Kingsbury and Will Delong both had 44s.
