Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met at the Aroostook Health Center on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 a.m. The special speakers were David and John Harbison of Harbison Plumbing and Heating and Aral and James Watson of Watson Well Drilling. They spoke about geothermal heat pumps and their great energy efficiency.
There are three types: a closed loop, an open loop and a pump ?n dump. The best type to use depends on where it would be placed, how much land is available and other considerations.
A heat pump works by taking the heat from the earth, which is typically 45 degrees, and using it in your home through a process that converts the liquid to a gas, which creates more heat. It is a form of electric heat.
