American Flag ColorPT Earl Brown    IVORYTON, CT – Earl William “Brownie” Brown, age 81, of Ivoryton, passed away at his residence on Friday, October 24, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Florence “Betty” Brown who predeceased him on October 10, 2006. He was born in Fort Kent, Maine, on March 1, 1933, the son of Leda Marie (Therrieault) Brown and William Earl Brown.
    Brownie had been a resident of Ivoryton for over sixty years. He enjoyed a long working career which began at an early age assisting his parents in the family owned Brown Restaurant in Houlton, Maine. He was a mechanic at Schroeder’s Garage in Madison and prior to his retirement in 2003, he was a machinist at Turbo Products in Ivoryton for over twenty years. As a proud United States Marine, he served his country during the Korean War. Brownie was a devoted member of the Essex Fire Engine Company #1 for many years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
    He is survived by his son, David C. Brown of Ivoryton; his daughter, Leda M. Andersen of Westbrook; his grand-children, Sarah Feeney and Joshua Brown; and his very close friend, Mary Arwine. Besides his beloved wife, Betty, and his parents, he was predeceased by his loving granddaughter, Kristine Andersen; his sister, Patricia Marie Brewer; and his brothers, Harry Brown and Reynold “Pete” Brown.
    Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Essex Fire Engine Company #1 Headquarters, 11 Saybrook Road in Essex. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Brownie’s name may be made to the Essex Fire Engine Co. #1, P.O. Box 786, Essex, CT 06426.
