    American Flag ColorISLAND FALLS – Richard K. Martin, 82, died Oct. 19, 2014, at a Bangor healthcare facility. He was born July 16, 1932, in Houlton, the son of Ronald and Virginia (Roberts) Martin.
    Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Bryant College with a BA and went to work in Aerospace for Lockheed in California. Richard then moved on to work for Sikorsky Helicopter until his retirement in 1995. He was known as “the man from Maine” when it came to tough financial negations. He would go on to meet kings, celebrities and have a private meeting with a pope as he went through life. He often said he had no regrets and was blessed to have had the love of not one but two incredible women. He was a member of the Whittier Congregational Church and a 50-year member of the order of Masons.
    Richard is survived by his wife, Dorothy (St. Onge) Alford Martin of Island Falls; two sons, Ronald Martin of New Haven, CT, and Arthur Martin of Seattle, WA; two grandchildren, Alan Martin and Anjelica Martin; two special cousins, Craig Banton and Ted Roberts; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife of 49 years, Marilyn Martin; a son, Alan Martin; and a sister, Ramona Martin Lunn.
    Graveside service were held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014, at the St. Agnes Cemetery, Island Falls. Following the service, the family invited relatives and friends for a time of refreshment and remembrance at their home at 20 Burleigh St., Island Falls.
