The Farm Service Agency and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Service are planning a series of Farm Bill informational meetings to be held at the following dates and corresponding locations:
• Frenchville, Nov. 4 from 1-3 p.m., St. John Valley Tech Center, multipurpose room;
• Presque Isle, Nov. 4 from 6-8 p.m., UMPI, Folsom Hall; and
• Littleton, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon, Meduxnekeag Ramblers Snowmobile Club, Wiley Road.
These meetings are free and open to the public.
Meeting attendees will learn about FSA Farm Bill programs including:
• Agricultural risk coverage/ price loss coverage (ARC/PLC);
• Marketing assistance loans and loan deficiency payments;
• Non-Insured Crop Disaster Assistance Program;
• Farm storage facility loans; and
• Farm loan programs (farm ownership, operating, emergency and youth loans).
Officials from the Cooperative Extension will be on hand to demonstrate the online decision-making tools available to producers and to discuss the important enrollment decisions regarding the ARC and PLC programs. Learning more about ARC and PLC is extremely important for producers who must make a one-time decision about base and yield updates as well as ARC or PLC election and enrollment decisions. An FSA representative will be in attendance to answer any questions on policies and procedures for both.
For more information about the meeting, call Mary Anne Coffin at 990-9140.
Persons with disabilities who require accommodations to attend or participate in these meetings should contact Coffin at the above number or the Federal Relay Service at 800-877-8339.
