HOULTON — Following in the footsteps of his big sister, a piece of artwork created by Samuel Kafferlin of Houlton has been selected to appear in “Spider” magazine.
Pioneer Times Photo/Joseph CyrBUDDING ARTIST — Samuel Kafferlin, 6, of Houlton had a piece of art published in the September 2014 issue of “Spider,” a national children’s magazine. He is the son of Kurt and Erin Kafferlin.
The 6-year-old son Kurt and Erin Kafferlin, Samuel’s work appears in the September 2014 issue of “Spider,” a national children’s magazine. Artwork by his sister Grace was featured in the January 2014 issue.
In April, readers were asked to submit original artwork of an adoptable pet. Kafferlin’s picture shows a large purple penguin and a creature with pink wings.
Spider magazine features short stories, poems, articles, multicultural features and activities by children’s authors and illustrators. In each issue readers are invited to submit their original artwork or writing on a specific theme to “Spider’s Corner,” with hundreds of entries pouring in each time from enthusiastic readers all over the world.
The editors select their favorites to be published in the magazine and on its website for children: www.spidermagkids. com/corner. Kafferlin’s piece of art was one of a handful selected by the magazine’s editors to be featured.
