HOULTON & PRESQUE ISLE – Gertrude M. Gormley, 95, passed away Monday September 15, 2014, at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. She was born March 2, 1919, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Leo and Mary “Mae” E. (Fisher) Mulheron.
Gertrude enjoyed doing various crafts and was an avid reader. She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s of the Visitation Church, Houlton.
She is survived by two sons, William Gormley Jr. and his wife, Jeannie of Bay City, TX, James Gormley of San Francisco, CA; three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Tardif and her husband, Rudy of Presque Isle, Margaret Ann Wallace of Crouseville, Rose Marie Lytken and her husband, Scott of Spokane, WA; six grandchildren, Margaret McPherson and her husband, Philip, Karen Seeley and her husband, Joey, Jennifer Olson and her husband, Scott, Jason Gormley and his wife, Alex, Jami Casey and her husband, Troy, Aaron Gormley; ten great-grandchildren, Michael, Katelyn, Tyler, Nicole, Jarrett, Amy, Peyton, Gracen, Kayda, Slade; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband, William Gormley Sr.; three sisters; a brother; and a daughter-in-law, Miriam Engelberg.
Friends called 9 – 9:45 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at St. Mary’s of the Visitation, Houlton, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dave Raymond celebrant. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Following the committal, the family invited relatives and friends to the Parish Center for a time of remembrance and refreshment.
