Annual Peanut Carnival, parade return Aug. 6-7

    HOULTON — The “Just For Kids” summer program, sponsored by the Houlton Recreation Department, will once again hold its annual Peanut Parade and Carnival. This year’s parade is set for Wednesday, Aug 6, at 10 a.m. in downtown Houlton.

    The Peanut Carnival will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Street tennis courts. In the event of rain, the carnival will be held inside the Gentle Memorial Building.
    The highlight of the evening will be the crowning of the 2014 Peanut King and Queen at 8 p.m. in the Rec Center gym. Last year’s king and queen, Evan Fournier and Addison Lapointe, will crown the new royalty.
    This years King and Queen candidates are: ages 5-6, Kathryn Fitzpatrick and Wyatt Lee; ages 7-8, Kaitlyn Kenney and Garrett Fitzpatrick; ages 9-10, Abby Fitzpatrick and Adam Fournier; and ages 11-13, Rothery Sullivan and Jarrett Fournier.
