American Flag Color    PT Lester BlackMANCHESTER, CT – Lester G. Black, 81, of Manchester, beloved husband of Dawn (Lenentine) Black passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014. Lester was born in Bridgewater, Maine on October 17, 1932, son of the late Linwood and Velma (Gallup) Black. He was raised in Bridgewater and has resided in Manchester since 1959.
    He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Lester worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for over 35 years retiring as general foreman. He was a member of the Manchester Sportsman Club, Campmates, Manchester Square Dance Club, an avid bowler, enjoyed carpentry and interior and exterior painting and was a handyman of all sorts.
    In addition to his wife Dawn, he is survived by his daughter, Diane Clancy and her husband, Regan, and their children, Katelyn, Matthew and his wife, Amanda; Kevin and his wife, Kaitlyn, and Michael; his son, David L. Black and his wife, Linda, and their children, Kelly and Kristina; his daughter, Debbie Plank and her husband, Gary, and their children, Joe, Justin and Jessica. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Black and a brother, Carroll Black.
    The family would like to thank Masonicare Hospice and a special thank you to Laurie Holmes. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester. Burial will follow with military honors at Hillstown Rd. Veteran Cemetery, Manchester. Calling hours were Tuesday, April 22, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
