HOULTON — The Cup Cafe at 61 Military St. has a new manager. Kim Pratt has been hired to take over the café. Pratt brings multifaceted experience and high standards of customer service to the Cup Café, as well as the desire to create an urban feeling pocket to our rural area.
“I’m really excited about being a part of the Cup Café,” Pratt said. “I had always loved stopping in and grabbing a latte on Sunday mornings and attending the monthly Coffeehouse. I have even participated in “Open Mic” reading poetry, and now I am happy to be part of an organization that brings something so fresh and positive to our community. My goal is to provide quality food and drink, as well as excellent customer service to all of our patrons and I think with our staff we are in a great position to do this.”
Pratt, her husband Frank, and their four children moved to Houlton in July 2007 after her husband went from working for the Coast Guard to Customs and Border Patrol. Her oldest son is a graduate of Houlton High School and now a freshman at UMPI. Her three younger children attend Houlton High School. They enjoy the area and her younger daughter Evie is one of the Cup Cafe’s newer baristas. Pratt says “Evie has always wanted to pull shots and make latte art. She has always expressed the desire to be a barista so it is really cool that she is getting this experience.”
