HOULTON — It took a few days, but Houlton Regional Hospital finally has its first baby of the New Year.
Jacoby Spencer Pelletier was born 10:14 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, to Shauna Guiggey and Spencer Pelletier, both of Sherman. While late to be a
New Year’s baby, Jacoby’s arrival came early for his parents as his mother was scheduled to deliver via caesarean section on Jan. 10.
Shauna said she just knew it was time and made the trip to HRH from Sherman without incident on Jan. 4. Jacoby joins siblings Logan Guiggey, 16; Brody Guiggey, 14; Connor Pelletier, 7; Aiden Pelletier, 4; and Shaylee Pelletier, 20 months.
The staff at the hospital presented the couple with a basket of items for having the first baby of 2014 at HRH. The nursing staff, employees of the hospital, as well as several local businesses, donated items for a gift basket to be given to the couple. The basket featured books, bibs, blankets and other items for the newborn.
In 2013, there were 169 babies born at HRH.
