HOULTON – Michael W. Shorey, 67, died Jan. 5, 2014, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 10, 1946, in Portland, the son of Ralph Sr. and Clarice (McBrine) Shorey.
Mike served in the US Army during the Vietnam war. He worked in the woods for many years and was machinist for Smith & Wesson for many years. Mike enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and trapping. He was a well known ASA softball umpire for 30-plus years and was very active with Northern Maine Softball.
Mike is survived by his mother and stepfather, Clarice and Raymond Irish of Houlton; his son, Timothy Shorey of Houlton; his grandson, Noah Grant of Houlton; three brothers, Ralph Shorey, Jr. and his wife, Jody, of Clinton, Scott Irish and his wife, Nam, of AL, Raymond Irish, Jr. and his wife, Ann, of MA; three sisters, Roberta Clark and her husband, Carl of Orient, Judy Ireland and her husband, David of Haynesville, Sharon Dixon and her husband, Gary, of Denton; special friends, Ammie and Bradford Irish; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father.
