Toys for Tots needs support

“It is an honor,” said Bernie Reece of the Aroostook County Marine Corps League  Detachment 1368 “to collect for The Tots for Tots Program from Mars Hill to Danforth.”    The Aroostook County Marine Corps League Detachment 1368 have Toys for Tots distribution boxes/donation cans at the following locations: Mars Hill Pharmacy, Mars Hill IGA, Bridgewater Town Office, Maine Street Fitness, Sherwin Williams, John Millar Civic Center, Houlton Town Office, S.W. Collins, Houlton Chamber of Commerce and the Houlton Outreach.
Houlton Temple Theater is offering a special deal for those who donate to the Toys for Tots. Any patron bringing in a toy worth at least a $5 will receive a ticket to the movie. One ticket per person with a toy.
If anyone would like a donation box, please contact Reece at 538-6964 and leave a message if necessary. The boxes will remain in these areas until Dec. 15 and then will be picked up, sorted and distributed to those in need for a Merry Christmas this year.
“To date through this program, we have assisted 1,289 youth in the surrounding areas,” said Reece. “We are also working with Aids for Kids, the Salvation Army and the Northern Lighthouse to ensure that all areas are covered and that families use the correct agency for their needs this holiday season.”
Donations that are received in this area stay in this area. Monetary donations can be mailed to The Toys for Tots Foundation address found on their website and can be designated for this area which is Aroostook County Southeast.
For local checks, make them out to The Toys for Tots Foundation, and give them to Reece, who will forward the donation by certified mail.
“We look forward to another successful year and it would not be possible without your help,” he said.
