HOULTON — Officials from the Maliseet Health and Wellness Center have announced the hiring of Dr. Annabelle Lipsett, M.D. as a full-time physician.
Lipsett began seeing patients at the clinic Oct. 21. Lipsett recently moved to Houlton, where she resides with her husband and two of her four grown sons.
She is from New York City and Puerto Rico and has been practicing medicine for 33 years. Lipsett is a board certified medical doctor licensed in Maine. She specializes in internal medicine and has had experience in VA hospitals, emergency rooms, as well as private practice. Dr. Annabelle Lipsett
She is excited to begin seeing patients and getting to know them. She is also eager to learn more about the culture and history of the Maliseet Tribe.
Lipsett will be available to provide full time coverage during regular clinic hours.
Her schedule will be open each day between 8-8:30 a.m. and 3-3:30 p.m. for “sick” visits and walk-ins. The remainder of the day will be available for scheduled appointments.
The clinic plans to do its best to accommodate all patients.
Full time coverage will make access to the clinic much easier and the hope is it will increase availability for well child visits.
The center does not have to be the primary care provider in order to see people at the clinic, but those who wish to choose the HBMI Clinic as your designated managed care provider will be accomodated.
The clinic accepts private insurance, MaineCare and Medicare. The HBMI Clinic is designated as a MaineCare Managed Care Provider for Native American MaineCare recipients. This means that those who are required by MaineCare to choose a primary care provider may choose the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians for primary care.
All patients, young and old, male or female, may stop by and meet Dr. Lipsett. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, call 532-4229.
