The Houlton/Hodgdon Adult Education program is offering the following courses. To register for these classes or for more information, call 521-3100 ext. 5.
Barn Quilt Workshop
The Friends and Needles Quilt Guild and Houlton Hodgdon Adult Education will hold a Barn Quilt Workshop on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Houlton Higher Education Center. Barn Quilts are part of a plan to display a series of quilt patterns on agricultural buildings comprising a “Quilt Trail” across the state. This concept has spread to over 40 states and Canada in the past 12 years. Peggy Crane has begun the “trail” on the B Road near Houlton. Come to the workshop and learn how your work can become part of the trail. The course fee is only $10. Pre-register by Oct. 10.
Book Discussion
New Books, New Readers will begin a free four-session community book discussion series on “Courage” at the Higher Ed Center on Oct. 9 at 10:30 a.m. And on Saturday, Oct. 12, there will be a Barn Quilt Workshop at the Higher Ed Center from 9 a.m. to noon.
Microsoft Excel (Intermediate)
If you have some familiarity with Excel, this class may be for you. Classes will be Tuesdays from Oct. 22 to Nov. 19, (5 Tuesdays), from 5-6:30 p.m. The instructor is Gerald Morey. Classes will be held at the Houlton Higher Ed Center Room 107. The cost is $50. Pre-registration is required by Oct. 18.
Intro to Access
An introductory Access 2010 class to get started in this powerful data tool will be held Thursdays Oct. 24 to Nov. 21 from 5-6:30 p.m. The instructor is Gerald Morey and classes will be held at the Houlton Higher Ed Center in room 107. The fee is $50. Pre-register by Oct. 18.
