Softball clinic deadline is Oct. 10

    A six-month softball clinic for ages 8 to 18 is coming to Southern Aroostook Community High School, featuring coach Paul Rodrigue, who brings 41 years of coaching experience to The County.
    Rodrigue was the Cony High School varsity softball coach, University of Augusta head softball coach, Old Town High School softball coach, Thomas College head softball coach, University of Maine Black Bears assistant softball coach, and the University of Southern Maine assistant and pitching coach.

    Coach Rodrigue was inducted into the Maine Sports Legends Hall of Fame in 2005 and has conducted fastpitch softball clinics since 2001.
    Clinics will be offered each Saturday and Sunday on Oct. 26 and 27; Nov. 16 and 17; Dec. 14 and 15; Jan. 25 and 26; Feb. 8 and 9; and March 2 and 15 for pitching (10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday and 9-11 a.m. on Sunday) and catching (9-10 a.m. on Saturday and 8-9 a.m. on Sunday).
    Other Saturday categories being taught include: batting from 12:15-1:15 p.m.; infielding from 1:30-2:30 p.m.  and outfielding from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
    Pitching has an eight-player minimum and cost is $30 for two hours. Participant must bring a catcher. Catching is $25 for an hour. Participant must bring someone to pass to with catching gear. Fielding and batting are both $25 each for one hour.
    Specials being offered are: two sessions for $50; three sessions for $70 and two siblings with three sessions, $130.
