Local runners compete in cross-country

    The Greater Houlton Christian Academy and Houlton cross-country runners competed in the Presque Isle Cross-Country Invitational on Saturday.

    The course was three miles and the meet was held at Caribou High School.
    Rylee Warman of GHCA finished eighth overall with a time of 21:52.68, while Olivia Winslow of Houlton was 59th with a time of 34:28.83.
    The first-place female was Maggie Painter of MDI who crossed the finish line at 19:49.03, followed by her teammates and Washburn’s Carysn Koch in fourth with a time of 20:50.22.
    For the boys, Ethan Jacques led GHCA runners coming in 54th with a time of 24:32.92, followed by Sam Carmichael and Josh Winslow in 57 and 58th places respectively. Carmichael finished the course at 25:24.30, while Winslow was 25:34.08.
    Matthew Toussaint of Fort Kent was the first boy overall to finish in a time of 17:28.03.
