New lease on life
After 16 years of fighting heart problems, 53-year-old Robin Carney, of Ashland, seems to have won the battle. On July 11, Robin underwent heart transplant surgery and is doing very well with no signs of rejection.

ROBIN – Ashland resident Robin Carney, shown here with her husband Norman in 2001, underwent heart transplant surgery on July 11 (her late father’s birthday.) She is doing well and is looking forward to the extended time that she now has to spend with her family.
Robin and her husband, Velmond (Norman) Carney, have been married for 38 years and have three children: Michael (Scotty) and his wife Leona, of Caribou; Stacy Williams and her husband, Robert , of Presque Isle; and Melissa Carney and her friend, Douglas Butler, of Mapleton. Robin is also blessed with 11 grandchildren and is looking forward to spending a lot of time with them in the years to come.
Robin and her family would like to express their gratitude to those who supported them through thought and prayer during her illness.
