HOULTON – Mary Ann “Blanche” Cyr, 94, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at Madigan Estates Healthcare Facility. She was born April 13, 1919 at Fort Kent, the daughter of Samuel and Christy (Castonguay) Caron.
Blanche was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Visitation Church, member of the Houlton Council of Catholic Women and the Houlton Regional Hospital Auxiliary where she was known as being in charge of the Divinity Fudge. Blanche was employed with several businesses in the Houlton area which included working for the Sisters of Mercy, the Northland Hotel, Houlton Regional Hospital Coffee Shop, and was best known for her 25-plus years with Henry Ivey at the Ivey’s Restaurant as hostess. Blanche was a very formidable woman and at the same time a very caring and loving mother, grandmother, great-great-grand-mother and friend.
She is survived by her son, Billy Cyr and his wife, Sharon, of Danforth; daughters, Karen Gallop and her husband, Alwyn “Pee Wee”, of Houlton, Louann Ritchie and her husband, Jimmy, of New Limerick, Pam Mailman and her husband, Ray, of Linneus, Tricia McCarthy and her husband, Larry, of Houlton; fourteen grandchildren, David, Brent, Beth Ann, Sherry, William John “BJ”, Christopher, Kristi, Shane, Lynette, Tara, Jennifer, Billi Ann, Nathan and Alicia; thirty great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Pam Crawford Dorta, John Crawford and his wife, Stacey, Doloris Dunphy Briggs, Woody Dunphy and his wife, JoAnn. She was predeceased by her husband, William; her brothers, Helaire and Zenon, and her sisters Amanda Dunphy and Christine Crawford.
Friends may call at Dunn Funeral Home Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of departure for Saint Mary of the Visitation Church for a mass of Christian burial at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Raymond celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
