The Houlton Football Association is announcing a second clinic for players in grades 3-8 on Saturday Aug. 10 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Lowery field behind the Houlton Southside School.
The previous clinic held in July was a big success. Coaches from the high school, as well as individual team coaches, were present to demonstrate the fundamentals of football in a fun format. Players are reminded to wear shorts and sneakers or cleats and bring bottled water.
Regular season practices will begin as follows: The Houlton junior high team will begin practices on Monday, Aug. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Houlton Southside. Coach Bill Alderson says, “be ready!”
Shire Head Coach Brian Reynolds wishes to remind high school candidates to have their physicals and parental permission slips available before the initial Aug. 19 practice, which will be held at 9 a.m. on that day and also at Houlton Southside School.
The grade 5-6 team begins practice on Aug. 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lowery Field behind Houlton Southside School and will be coached by former high school players Eddie Flint and Quinn Harris.
The HFA is looking for more players and will be registering new players at this clinic. Grade 3-4 players are specifically needed to fill out the roster for that group. Please call Reynolds at 532-8403 or Andy Hay at 532-6547 with any questions.
