Adam and Yanira Drew and children, Dennis and Dalia have visited for a number of weeks and while here they stayed at the Dunphy camp on Mattawamkeag Lake. Also visiting for 10 days has been Lt. Com. Travis Joy, USN, with wife Mia and children, Noah, Rachel, Riley and Nathan.
The Joys will be finishing their time in Maine and will be living in Virginia beginning the first of August. While here they visited with friends and family, did some canoeing on Mattawamkeag Lake, swimming at the pond and took a trip to South Branch Pond.
Also, the cousins, Adam and Travis, enjoyed playing golf at the VA-JO-WA golf course in the area. And the families also enjoyed several meals at the River Cafe, the Elm Tree Diner and Craig’s Clam shop and a birthday celebration for Andrew Moulton and grandmother, Rebecca Drew.
Joyce and Diane Curry, former residents of Island Falls are now at the Curry homestead here where they will stay to enjoy all the Island Falls Summerfest activities. I have seen several glimpses lately of the little fat woodchuck that resides under my front door step and if he spies me he sure makes a bee-line for his hideaway there.
Also, I have been wondering if the skunks have returned to dig up my lawns again and discovered, to my dismay that they have. I haven’t been able to get out and mow much due to the wet weather, but the other day it was dry and that is when I found all the new skunk holes.
Apparently they even dig away during the rain. My one cherry tomato plant is thriving well and has many small green tomatoes on it. But, alas, my flowers don’t appreciate all the rain and need more sun to make them perk up. I have seen two deer lately in my back yard and they were frolicking around quite a bit before returning into the woods nearby.
