To the editor:
Recently, as a northern Maine business developer, I had the opportunity to work directly with the Aroostook legislative delegation in Augusta.
I would specifically like to thank Rep. Willette and Sen. Jackson for facilitating a letter from our Aroostook delegation to the Maine Public Utilities Commission that represents 100 percent bipartisan support for the proposed Loring Combined Heat and Power Plant as anchor customer for the development of natural gas infrastructure in northern Maine. The letter was signed by Sen. Jackson, Rep. Willette, Sen. Sherman, and Reps. Nadeau, Ayotte, Fitzpatrick, Saucier, Long, Clark, McElwee and Theriault.
The Aroostook delegation’s letter to Maine PUC Chairman Tom Welch demonstrated a unity of purpose for economic development and energy savings in northern Maine that should be noted and appreciated by all citizens of Aroostook County.
Without regard for political affiliation, it was clear to me that our lawmakers have been both willing and able to work together for the common good of Aroostook County.
