Church celebrates grand opening
    HOULTON — The Military Street Baptist Church will hold its grand opening Saturday and Sunday with a number of special events. A live remote broadcast with WHOU begins at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. Tours will be given at 2:30 p.m., followed by special music and presentations in the worship center at 3 p.m. Cake and coffee will be served at 3:30 p.m.

    On Sunday, coffee will be served starting at 9 a.m., with doors opening to the worship center at 9:30 a.m. The service begins at 10:30 a.m.
Power outage planned
HOULTON — Residents of Houlton will be without power Wednesday evening, starting at 11 p.m., as the Houlton Water Company undergoes a repair project at the Bangor Street substation.
    According to John Clark, president of the HWC, the outage will last for about four hours and will impact all Houlton customers on Military, Bangor, Brook, Columbia, Cleveland, Green, State, Chandler, South, Court, Pearce, Franklin, Watson, Park, Weeks, Avon, Abraham, School, High, Kelleran, Commonwealth, Hillview, Sunnyside, Rogers, Ridgeway, Evergreen, Florence, Alice, Marble, Buffalo and Kendall streets.
    In addition, portions of North, Mill, Maple, Hartford, Bowdoin, Salem and Smyrna streets may be impacted.
    “If the work cannot be performed because of inclement weather, the outage will be moved to Thursday, June 27 at 11 p.m.,” Clark said. “We appreciate your patience and understanding as we proceed with the repairs.”
