HOULTON — There are some traditions that are so loved in a small community that if it didn’t happen that year people would be sure to notice.
That is what happened with the Little Miss and Mr. Sparkler and Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker Pageants in 2011.
When the event was cancelled that year, people noticed and clamored for its return in 2012.
Houlton has been host to the Little Miss and Mr. Sparkler and the Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker Pageants for so many years now that we have forgotten when it started, but the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce is very happy to be hosting this exciting event.
So, we are polishing the tiaras, fluffing up the crowns and accepting pre-registration for the July 2 pageant which will be held at the Gentle Memorial building at 6 p.m.
Registration is simple. The Chamber office at 109 Main St. (right behind the library) or Chadwick’s Florist and Greenhouse at 23 Spring St. have simple forms to fill out which will enter your child into the pageant.
Each completed form will receive a pass, which will get the child and adult into the event for free. Spectators pay $3, children under 6 enter for free.
This year’s Sparkler Pageant, for 2 year olds and younger, and the Firecracker pageant for the 3-4 year olds, is promising to be a great evening of entertainment. We hope you will bring that beautiful baby or toddler to the pageant and join us as we kick off the 4th of July fun in Houlton with this spectacular event.
