Ark Animal Sanctuary

Coleman is a beautiful black and white beagle mix. He has one blue eye and one brown and is approximately 9 months old. Coleman was born in Arkansas and came from a litter of eight puppies. At the age of 2 months, Coleman was adopted by a family in New Hampshire and put on a transport from Arkansas to N.H. to begin his life with his new family.

He was the cutest, chubbiest little puppy and also very happy. To a certain degree puppies are molded by their new environment and owners. Coleman’s new family was a military family and they kept moving which was not a positive thing for Coleman. That on top of not being socialized properly became a big problem for Coleman and his new family. At the age of 5 months, it was decided that the best thing for Coleman was to send him back to Arkansas.

BS-Ark-dcx-pt-23NEEDS A HOME — Coleman is a beautiful black and white beagle mix looking for a new home.

The Arkansas shelter contacted us and asked for help and we agreed to go to NH and bring Coleman back to The Ark for placement. At the end of February, we drove to N.H. where Coleman was surrendered to The Ark.  He willingly jumped in the car as if he knew he was going some place new. At the age of 5 months Coleman was going to his fourth home. Can you imagine how he must have been feeling?
We placed Coleman into a foster home with a dog trainer. Coleman was very shy and nervous but soon settled in as there were other dogs to play with. Coleman has been with us for three months and is learning to walk on a leash and be around people. He rides in the back seat on the floor when he goes in the car, but this is understandable when you think of how many times he has moved.
Coleman is in desperate need of a permanent home, a place where he is loved and will never have to move again. He needs a loving and patient new owner who can help bring him out of his shell. He also needs another socialized dog in his new home to show him the ropes. Coleman is happiest when he has a companion to play with.
Coleman is now 9 months old and has been through more changes in his short life than most dogs experience in a lifetime. Each time he was up-rooted a little damage was done. Coleman is a very sensitive but loving dog. He deserves a loving family to call his own. He is patiently waiting. Do you have room in your heart to give Coleman the home he deserves, where he will never have to move again?
