HOULTON and ROCHESTER, NY – Florence (Wilcox) Sager, 80, died April 3, 2013, at Gardiner Nursing Home in Houlton. She was born February 15, 1933, in Houlton, the daughter of Sherman and Florence (Scott) Wilcox.
Florence, also known as Flossie to friends and family, was a member of the Houlton High School class of 1951. After high school, she married and moved to Rochester, NY, where she worked for Bausch and Lomb until she retired and returned to Houlton to live.
She is survived by her three brothers, Joseph, Benjamin, and Jasper Wilcox. She was predeceased by three sisters, Ruth Austin of Fitchburg, MA, Madeline Carroll of Milwaukee, WI, and Opal Young of Houlton. She also left behind many nieces, nephews, and friends around the country.
Spring graveside services for all friends and family is planned for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 at the Wilcox Cemetery in Cary Plantation. Flossie loved animals dearly and was a strong supporter of the ASPCA and other animal rescue and refuge groups. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to make a donation in her name to the animal shelter of their choice.
