ASHLAND – A local man is back home after being burned on June 30, as he tried to fill a lighter.
Ashland Fire and Ambulance responded to the home of Steven O’Clair, 48, of Ashland, on Monday following the report of a fire. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered O’Clair had burns over his upper body, arms and hands. O’Clair sustained the burns when a lighter he was filling ignited. “O’Clair sustained burns to his chest, arms and hands. He was transported to The Aroostook Medical Center,” said Pat Long, director of the Ashland Ambulance Service.
According to TAMC, O’Clair was transferred a short time after his arrival to Eastern Maine Medical Center, where he underwent treatment. No information was available as to the extent of his injuries but O’Clair has since returned home.
“Steven came home on Friday,” said Long.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office was called in to investigate the fire and determined it to be an accident.
