Northern Maine Chamber Society Orchestra to present ‘An American in Aroostook’

Northern Maine Chamber Society Orchestra, centered in Aroostook County, is preparing its spring offering of high quality classical concerts. The all-volunteer group is made up of local musicians, professional teachers, and advanced students. The full orchestra will perform “American in Paris” by Gershwin, Greig’s “Peer Gynt Suite,” and Beethoven’s “Fifth Symphony.” Violin soloist Christopher Brown of

Millinocket will perform “Concerto in A Minor” by Vivaldi, accompanied by the orchestra strings. Strings will also complete the program with String quartet op.64, #5 by Haydn.
With true dedication to classical concerts, most of the volunteer musicians travel many miles to participate in this special gift to the arts of northern Maine. We are privileged to have Kevin Kinsey of Fort Fairfield continue as our conductor.
The Houlton concert will be at the Houlton Wesleyan Church on Kelleran St. at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.
There will be a Sunday, April 28 concert at 6 p.m. in the Campus Center at UMPI. Admission is free to either concert, however donations will be gratefully accepted. For further information, call 207-532-6840 or 473-7698.
