Katahdin High School has announced that Travis Gallagher has been chosen as valedictorian of the class of 2013.

Valedictorian
Travis is the son of Chris Gallagher of Patten and Sonya Guptill of Patten. He plans to attend the University of Southern Maine at Portland and major in biochemistry. Travis has been a member of Student Council, and participated in varsity baseball.Patrick Pettegrow
Salutatorian
Patrick Pettegrow is salutatorian. Patrick is the son of Stanley and Sue Pettegrow of Benedicta. He plans to attend the University of Maine at Orono to major in electrical/computer engineering. Patrick volunteered for Vacation Bible School at the Benedicta Parish.

Honors
Lucas Anderson is the son of Steve and Cheryl Anderson of Patten. He plans to attend the University of Maine at Fort Kent for criminal justice or join the service. He has been involved in the National Honor Society. He has been involved in varsity soccer and has been on the ski team. Lucas attended the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership program as a sophomore. He has been a volunteer at the Katahdin Elementary School in their afterschool program.Makayla Patterson
Honors
Makayla Patterson is the daughter of Jerald and Andrea Patterson of Stacyville. She plans to attend Husson University to major in nursing. Makayla has participated in soccer, basketball, volleyball, and softball. She also was involved in Performing Art’s Club of Katahdin, National Honor Society, Student Council, Ski Club, Prom Committee, yearbook editor, and she was also involved in All Aroostook Band and Chorus. In NHS, Makayla held the offices of secretary/treasurer, vice president and is currently the president. In student council, she held the offices of vice president and is currently president. Makayla also attended the Dirigo Girls’ State where she was town moderator and chorus participant.Cole Porter

Cole Porter is the son of John and Holly Porter of Sherman. He plans to attend the University of Maine at Fort Kent to major in criminal justice to become a game warden. Cole has participated in ski and snowboard club, pep band and has also been involved in youth group.
