HOULTON — The Millar Civic Center was the place to be over the weekend as the 2013 Southern Aroostook Trade Show entertained large crowds on both Saturday and Sunday.

The trade show has become an annual Rite of Spring, providing attendees with a wealth of information on topics such as local banking, satellite television, Internet, artwork, alternative heating sources, all-terrain and recreational vehicles, garden and farming equipment.
Jane Torres, executive director for the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce, said she was pleased with both how smoothly the event went as well as the attendance figures.

A redesigned layout for the trade show drew rave reviews from participants and vendors alike, Torres said.
One of the more popular booths belonged to Amato’s, which recently announced plans to open in Houlton. On Saturday, franchise owners Micah and Jessica Desmond, sold out of its italian sandwiches, selling 200.
